ADVICE & SUPPORT

At Clarendon, we’ve been supporting adults in and around Surrey and South-West London to live independently in their own homes for over 30 years.

Our fully regulated care services offer all the support, reassurance and companionship that people need to go on living happy, fruitful and independent lives in the place that means the most to them – their own home.

At Clarendon Home Care we provide our care staff with the specialist training they need to rise to the daily challenges of looking after someone in their own home. We also recognise the need for life experience, common sense and a willingness to care for those that need it most.

Do I need care at home?

The decision to start receiving a paid carer at home can be a daunting and complicated one.

You may be considering care at home if:

  • You are finding it hard to cope with daily routines such as washing, dressing, household chores and getting out and about
  • You need some help with you mobility around the home, such as getting in and out bed
  • You are feeling isolated or lonely at home
  • You want to stay in your own home rather than move into residential care

How can home care help me?

A paid visiting or live in carer can help you with any number of things. These might include:

  • Getting out of bed in the morning
  • Getting washed and dressed
  • Brushing your teeth
  • Brushing your hair
  • Using the toilet
  • Making meals and drinks
  • Help with medication
  • Help with cleaning and other household chores
  • Help with shopping
  • Getting out and about
  • Getting settled in the evening and ready for bed

How do I arrange a paid carer?

There are two ways to arrange paid home care:

If you wish to set-up home care via your local council, you will need to contact them and ask for a financial assessment (link below). This will help the council decide whether or not you are eligible for financial support with your home care needs.

If you’re eligible, the council will assess your care needs and may contribute to the full or partial cost of your home care. What you’ll contribute will depend on your income and savings. The council will arrange the care service on your behalf and will consult with you on the way that the care is paid for.

If you’re not eligible, the council will still give you free advice about how you can arrange your own care but you will have to pay for it yourself.

If you are arranging your own care, you will need to contact a home care company and arrange care through them. Home care companies employ trained carers to come to your home and provide you with the level of care and support you will need.

If you are thinking of employing the services of a home care company, there are some key questions you might want to ask:

  • What is your hourly charge?
  • What service, if any, are charged as extras?
  • How will you choose a carer suitable for me?
  • Will the carer visit at a specific time?
  • What sort of training do the carers get?
  • How can I contact my care company during the day, in an emergency or outside office hours?

Home Care from Clarendon

Like most care companies, Clarendon offers two main care services:

Visiting Home Care

A fully trained carer will visit your home when required to provide whatever support you need to help you live as independently and happily as possible in your own four walls. Visiting home care means you will stay at home, in your own community, surrounded by your friends and family.

Our fully-regulated visiting Home Care service is for anybody that wants to go on living independently at home but who needs a little extra help around the house. It could be that somebody needs temporary support following a hospital stay or illness or it might be that they require some assistance managing a long-term condition like Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s.

Live-In Home Care

Clarendon Live-in care is for people who wish to remain living at home independently while also having the safety and reassurance of round-the-clock care from a fully trained professional.

The service is designed to be as flexible as you want it to be, meaning that you might have a close friendship with your carer or you may just want them to be on hand at the specific times you need help the most.

Live-in care allows people to stay in control of their life, keep up with their hobbies, interests, and routines and to maintain relationships. We provide live-in care for adults of all ages across Surrey and South West London. We look after people with many different health conditions, each of whom require very specific skills and often innovative ways to meet their needs.
