Cobham service user Mary-Ann G knew she needed some help around the home when she saw how her declining mobility was affecting her daughter’s life.
“Michelle would come in before and after a day’s work to help me and she would be looking absolutely shattered. I would feel so guilty.” says Mary-Ann now. “Knowing that she would have to come here to help me with my meals and to get around the house, then return home to my three grandchildren…I couldn’t let it go on.”
Mary-Ann first suggested the idea of a live in carer and having somebody to provide 24/7 care in the home. “If anything, I had to convince Michelle as she really didn’t want to let go at first.” says Mary-Anne.
Mother and daughter contacted Clarendon Live-in Care and were soon matched with a live-in carer called Mercy who instantly hit it off with Mary-Ann. “It was actually really nice when Mercy came into the house and started to take care of my care needs.” says Mary-Ann. “It meant that time spent with my daughter could be more enjoyable again as by the time she came, I was already up and dressed and had all the help I needed.”
Daughter Michelle agrees that live in carer Mercy has been great for her mum: “She is a kind and polite lady who generally keeps herself to herself but is always there when Mum needs a helping hand. It’s been amazing to see how regular, daily live-in care has benefitted my mum and has put a smile back on face!”
