Comprehensive training structure

All new carer recruits undergo induction training in Manual Handling, Food Hygiene and First Aid.

Our induction training involves new care assistants shadowing experienced carers as well as computer based training modules.

Other special training modules are available including programmes for the protection of vulnerable adults. We encourage our team to undergo additional training to meet their career aspirations including NVQ2 in Social Care.

Learning disability support training

A detailed induction and training programme has been developed for support workers to help them to complete the Level 2 Learning Disability Qualification (LDQ) Induction Award in Supporting People who have Learning Disabilities.

By successfully completing the LDQ Induction Award, support workers will have demonstrated that they have met the common induction standards and will also gain a nationally recognised induction qualification, which will be the first step on a pathway of learning and qualifications for staff working with adults with learning disabilities.

Additional training is provided for staff who are caring for service users who have complex conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease or Alzheimers and who require specialist care.
